Building Surveyor

Charterfields is a recognised and respected advisor to the UK and international insurance markets, providing high quality intelligent advice to insurers, risk managers, brokers and advisors on buildings, structures, plant, machinery and contents.

Following a period of continued growth, we have a number of positions open for highly motivated buildings surveyors to join us providing property reinstatement cost assessments across all business sectors.

You will be a building or valuation surveyor, ideally qualified to MRICS level or working to that accreditation, with at least two years post qualification experience. Recent knowledge of assessing industrial and commercial property for reinstatement cost assessments would be preferred, although training and support is provided. Candidates from other disciplines but with direct experience in project costing may also be considered.

We are a welcoming, dynamic, hard-working team and we are looking for friendly, tech-savvy people who have an eye for detail and a desire to refine processes to improve outcomes for our clients.

The role involves regular UK travel with the occasional opportunity to work internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

– Undertake desktop and on-site cost assessment across a wide range of property types.

– Produce bespoke reports to a professional standard.

– Contribute to the development of industry leading solutions for clients.

– Provide technical insights to clients.

– Prioritise individual workload to deliver for our clients efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge and skills:

– An understanding of how reinstatement costs impact insurers, policyholders and brokers.

– Excellent presentation and customer management skills.

– Able to articulate your reasoning and to convey your expertise.

– Able to build trusted client relationships and promote collaborative teamwork.

– A full UK driving licence.

Our insurance assessment business continues to grow and we have an immediate need for a referencer to join our professional services team. The role, which can be home based or located at our Manchester office, will involve inspecting, documenting and producing preliminary costings for a wide range of industrial and commercial property risks in the UK and international markets.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative with a commitment to accuracy and a flexible approach to business travel. An RICS qualification and/or quantity surveying background would be advantageous, but it is not essential, as training will be given to the successful candidate.

Salary: Negotiable, subject to experience.
